Spiritual Reflections at, TX US - Sisters of Charity of the Incarnate Word!
My name is Sister Mary Carmel Smith, a Sister of Charity of the Incarnate Word, San Antonio, Texas. Following is a short summary about my Congregation.
HISTORICAL BACKGROUND of the Sisters of Charity of the Incarnate Word...
Our Congregation, founded in 1869 from the Cloistered Order of the Incarnate Word in Lyons, France, by Bishop Claude Dubuis, is an Apostolic Religious Congregation dedicated to Jesus, the Incarnate Word. As Sisters of CHARITY, we serve the spiritual and corporal needs of our neighbor through the ministries of evangelization, education, healthcare and human services of all kinds, in the United States, Mexico, Peru, Guatemala and Africa.
RELIGIOUS PROFESSION FOR THE CONSECRATED LIFE:
As Religious Sisters, we dedicate our lives to the Incarnate Word through the profession of the vows of poverty, chastity and obedience and live out our consecration according to the charism and spirituality of the Incarnation. As the Incarnate Word "became flesh and lived among us", so we endeavor to make the love of the Incarnate Word real and tangible in today's world. We honor Jesus in a special way by promoting the human dignity of his people in all walks of life.

The Angel of the Lord declared unto Mary. And she conceived by the the Holy Spirit. Hail Mary, full of Grace, the Lord is with you. Blessed are you among women and blessed is the fruit of your womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners now and at the hour of our death. Amen. Behold the handmaid of the Lord, be it done unto me according to your word. Hail Mary....
AND THE WORD BECAME FLESH...
In the beginning was the Word: the Word was with God and the Word was God. He was with God in the beginning. Through him all things came into being, not one thing came into being except through him. What has come into being in him was life, life that was the light of all; and the light ...
